Coffee is Art; Coffee is Life.

My coffee paintings are reflections of the cities that I have experienced. Every city has its different temperament.Every city belongs to its people, and its people to the city. In my work I often walk between the abstract and the figurative. Each piece is unique and tells its own story.
I am an avid student of the Taoist philosophy on life. That is, that our world is made up by countless cycles that circulate in harmony. Coffee is an oily material mixed with water and it is relatively light colored, especially compared with black ink. Over time, slight discoloration occurs but this follows the laws of nature. The paintings slowly fade with time in a similar way that all things live and die until their next reincarnation.
These coffee paintings represent a harmonious cycle in my life. Each morning I drink a cup of coffee. I save the used coffee grounds which become my artistic medium and I paint them onto different paper to create my original pieces. Then I sell the paintings and use the income to buy more coffee thus completing the cycle that will begin again.
